Inspiring days dotted with clouds. Is the best way I can summarise my time in Sikkim. The sight of the grandiose majesty of the mountain peaks soaring above the clouds makes all the discomforts of the long bone rattling journey, the piercing cold nights, and the return of the dreaded stomach bugs, fade away in an instant. No photo I can take could ever do mount Khangchendzonga (the third highest in the world) justice.
It's the scenery that steals the show. Although the Tibetan style monasteries on the edges of town are placed like little jewels and prayer flags flutter all around I haven't come across any show stopping structures or ceremonies. Mostly quiet Buddhist faith celebrated in modest surroundings.
